Amos Adams sermon, 1704-1768.

Sermon on Matthew and Luke written and delivered by Rev. Amos Adams of the First Church in Roxbury, Mass., on March 6 and April 17, 1768. Collection also includes a series of religious testimonials gathered by an unknown clergyman, 1704-1720; and a copy of a boundary dispute registered in the Medfield town register, 1727.

The area now known as Roxbury was begininng to be populated by English settlers in 1630. In 1631 the church was gathered and the first meetinghouse was built in 1632 establishing the First Church in Roxbury . That same year, Thomas Weld was ordained as the first pastor of the church, and John Eliot was ordained as the first teacher.
